Get ready for our off road motorcycle adventure tour and ride west by hot water springs, along the Kali Gandaki Gorge and into the Mustang region, likened to a stunning high altitude desert.

Through the back roads out of Kathmandu we head west to the historic city of Gorkha, where the first King of Nepal started the unification of the country and from where the name ‘Gurkha’ is derived. Riding north west this route will lead us for a 70% off road trip from Kathmandu where you’ll be riding in between the peaks of the Annapurna mountain range, towards hot springs, through the deepest gorge in the world and onto the barren planes of the high Himalaya. Recommended bikes for this trip are the Honda CRF250L or Reiju 200cc marathon pro.

Day 1) Kathmandu – Hotel 5*

Free day for arrivals

Usually flights are overnight so you should allow an extra day for the journey to Kathmandu. Once you arrive at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport we will pick you up directly from the airport transfer you to your 5* hotel. There will be the opportunity for exploration of the ancient city in your own time this day depending on your time of arrival. Once you are settled in we collect you from the hotel and introduce you to your bikes. The evenings’ briefing will be latest at 6pm, with an introduction and familiarisation with your bikes and a talk on safety and riding style in Nepal. We’ll ride out to town for dinner this evening and a taste of Kathmandu traffic.

You’ll receive duffel bags for re-packing of your bags for the following morning, whilst your own suitcases can be left at the hotel’s storage facility.

Day 2) Trishuli 4* Hotel 

(3,353ft. alt.) 56km -3hrs

Leaving Kathmandu Valley we will ride north passing through an old town of Tokha (alt. 4462ft), climb up the valley hill and cross over the pass from Guruje Bhanjyang (alt 6168ft). From here we descend on many switchbacks down to Likhu River. The first section is gravel road then after crossing a bridge we will ride on narrow tarmac along the side of a hill. Passing near to Nuwakot Durbar, a historic palace used by Late King Pritivi Narayan Shah. We will stay at The Famous Farm tonight, a boutique hilltop hideaway with amazing views.

Day 3) Gorkha – Hotel 4* 

(3281ft alt.) 98km 5.5hrs

Starting on tarmac roads today until we’re past the local market we then ride west on gravel jeep track for most of the day’s ride. Later we’ll find ourselves on a wide road currently being constructed: the road is full of deep fine dust. Be warned! Salyantar/Arughat for lunch, this area sits on a flat area besides the river, the river flows from the East side of Mount Manaslu (26,759ft). After a bit more jeep track we’ll come back to tarmac roads to take us to the historic town of Gorkha, home of the Gurkhas. The

Gorkha palace is on top of the hill. We will stay at Gorkha Gaun for the night, a hidden paradise with rooms that feel like small cottages. If we are lucky with the weather we will see Mt.Manaslu.

Day 4) Naudanda 124km

(5249ft. Alt) 144km 6.5hrs

After a short stint on tarmac we crossover to a jeep track that will head north taking us through smaller hills, where we will be surrounded on both sides north and south with the mighty Himalayas. Also passing through tropical forest before riding down towards Begnas and Rupa ‘Tal’ (lakes). Quite a day so far, we briefly join up to the Prithivi Highway, a beautiful road once featured in the BBC’s documentary “The world’s most dangerous highways” which runs to Pokhara. Not staying for too long on this busy highway we travel on smaller tarmac roads up to Naudanada. Naudanda sits on a ridge with the Annapurna Mountain range to the south. We will stay at Himalayan Deurali Resort tonight which is situated on a ride offering a panoramic view of the mountains.

Day 5) Kalopani

6hrs, 101km (8366ft)

 Today we enter the Kali Gandaki Gorge with a river running through it, this can be seen to be the world’s deepest gorge as it is 18,278 ft lower than Annapurna 1, which bounds it at one point and Dhaulagiri on the other side.

Once past Tatopani there will be hairpin turns and a jeep track will take us quite high up and onto the start of the Tibetan plateau. Now you will not only have ridden through the deepest gorge in the world, but also alongside it, have no fear! Arriving later at Kalopani where views of the mighty Dhaulagiri (26,795ft) and Annapurna I (26,545ft) can be had.

Day 6) Muktinath (Marpha – basic lodge)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis is the big day where we’ll be heading to the ultimate destination in Nepal: Muktinath, which is a high altitude sacred temple where Hindus often come on pilgrimage and pray. Mukti can be translated as “enlightenment” and Nath means “temple”. There are 108 freezing cold water spouts which if you run through them will cleanse you of all your sins!

After you are fully cleansed we’ll ride north on small jeep tracks higher up onto 14,764ft and explore the high altitude desert terrain which is likened to the Tibetan plateau.

We’ll ride back down to the picturesque white-washed village of Marpha to rest for the night and indulge in their famous apple juice and apple pie.

Day 7) Tatopani

Heading back along the jeep track by the Kali Gandaki Gorge we quickly find our way to Tatopani as awaiting us are hot water springs to relax in for the rest of the day!

Day 8) Pokhara: 5* Hotel 

(2779ft. Alt) 104km/ 4.5hrs

Once back in Pokhara we land up at the amazing Fishtail Lodge situated on Lake Phewa just a short raft-pullly ride away. If there’s time this afternoon, we can also ride over to a beautiful more secluded lake where there’s a waterfall and its more pleasant for swimming.

Day 9) Pokhara

Rest Day, Pokhara holds many attractions, including the World Peace Stupa, the International Mountain Museum and the unforgettable sunset from the top of Sarangkot hill. Or we can pre-arrange some more adrenalin injected activities for you such as: paragliding, white water rafting, ultralight ride, bungee zip and the world’s longest zip line.

Day 10) Kathmandu: 5* Hote

204km, 7hrs

Today we’ll be back on the Prithvi Highway all the way to Kathmandu, this will be a fantastic and chaotic ride with much traffic on the roads to weave through. Once back you can relax and enjoy a dip in the pool. We will head out for a celebratory meal this evening in Kathmandu.

Free day for departures &airport drop off.

Alternatively why not stay on in Kathmandu for an extra and enjoy a guided tour of some of the UNESCO world heritage sights in Kathmandu.
